NothingDown is built to collect as little about you as possible. This page describes what the site actually does.

The matcher

Your matcher answers are processed in your browser. They’re kept in your browser tab’s session storage so you can go back and forth, and are cleared when you close the tab. When you view results, your multiple-choice answers are placed in the page address after a “#”, which browsers don’t send to our servers; anything you type (like an “other” skill) is never put there. We don’t ask for your name, address, phone number, Social Security number or financial account details.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify, which, like any web host, processes technical data such as IP addresses and browser information to deliver pages and protect the service.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, such as which pages are visited and whether the matcher is completed. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed; Google processes this under its own privacy policy. We send Google only the page path and anonymous events. We never send your matcher answers, email address or anything you type. You can block these cookies in your browser or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our pages, through heatmaps and recordings of clicks, scrolling and page interactions. This helps us find confusing parts of the site. Clarity uses cookies and collects device and usage information; Microsoft processes it under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We mask fields you type into (like your email address and income target) so they aren’t recorded.

Emailing your results

Emailing results isn’t available yet. When it is, it will be optional and used only to send the email you ask for.

Payments

NothingDown.com doesn’t sell anything or offer subscriptions, so we never ask for card or bank details.

Cookies

We don’t use advertising cookies. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set analytics cookies as described above.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell personal information.
• We don’t share your information with lenders, brokers or sellers.
• We don’t send marketing emails, calls or texts.

Your choices

You can use everything on this site for free without giving us any personal information. To ask about or delete information we hold about you, use the details on our contact page.

Changes

We’ll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top.
